Europe@Home: Europe starts in our communities
The European People’s Party (EPP) Group in the Committee of the Regions (CoR) launched its photography competition for young people. The competition is called Europe@Home and aims to encourage young people to express how they see Europe in their region or city. As Isidoro Gottardo, President of the EPP Group in the Committee of the Regions said "a picture can tell a thousand words." [ooo üllatust :P] This initiative supports the goals of the EU communication strategy and Plan D for Democracy, Dialogue and Debate of the EU, which focus giving citizens the opportunity to become more involved in the European Union.
"During the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty and in the run-up to the 2009 European elections, it is essential to facilitate communication with all citizens and involve them in the European project. The perspective from which the EU is viewed by young people is very interesting because the youth represent the future of Europe. Our Group believes that images can be extremely powerful and we want to give young people the opportunity to take advantage of this", explained President Gottardo.
The contest is open to young people between the ages of 15 and 28 from any EU Member State and there are two cash prizes for the winners. Furthermore, the winning photographs will be presented at the EPP/CoR Summer University for regional and local media in June 2008 and be used for publications of the EPP Group.
The competition runs from 4 February to 30 April 2008 and more information is available on the EPP Group in the CoR website: www.cor.europa.eu/eppweb.

Aga see konkurss tundub küll veits naljakas siin.
No jah. Just tuli üks tagasilöök mulle. Minu võistkond jäi ühel üleriigilisel EL teemalisel võistlusel napilt napilt esikohast ilma ning Brüsseli reis jääb ära nüüd. aga aitäh teate eest.
